Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup
Martin and Sons Maple Syrup aged to perfection in oak barrels. We begin with high quality 100% pure maple syrup and transfer it into freshly emptied oak barrels from Wisconsin distilleries that had been used to age whiskey, bourbon, or rum. The barrels are then stored in a cool storage room to allow the syrup to absorb the vanillin and caramel flavor from the charred barrel walls. This process takes several months, but the end product is worth the wait! When ready, the syrup is heated, burning off any residual alcohol, filtered, and bottled.
Each barrel-aged maple syrup has a unique flavor profile. Bourbon and Whiskey Barrel-Aged Syrups have a rich flavor, with vanilla undertones. While there are similarities in flavor between them, the Whiskey Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup has a more robust flavor. Our Rum Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup has a butterscotch undertone that is distinct from the other barrel-aged syrups..
They are all delicious on traditional breakfast foods like pancakes, French toast and waffles. We also recommend these syrups be drizzled over yogurt, corn bread, muffins, toast, oatmeal, vanilla ice cream and more (one of our customers recommends drizzling the Whiskey Barrel-Aged Syrup over Apple Crisp).
